Sojiro Tsuchiya is a member of the Board of Directors and a executive vice president of DENSO Corporation in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. He oversees DENSO’s overall production affairs, the Production Promotion Center and the Asia and Oceania region.

Tsuchiya began his automotive career at DENSO Corporation (formerly Nippondenso Co., Ltd.) in 1975 after he graduated from Nagoya University with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also continued on at Gifu University to obtain a Doctor of Engineering degree in March 2001.

In 1997, Tsuchiya was named director of Production Engineering Research and Development Division 1. He contributed to the development of new production engineering technologies. With the increased productivity and decreased production costs of high-speed micro precision machining and adaptive production systems using robots, DENSO received recognition for its technology.

In 2002, he was promoted to director of the Production Promotion Center.

Sojiro was named one of DENSO’s executive directors in June 2004, and later promoted to senior executive director in June 2007. He was appointed to executive vice president in June 2011.

DENSO, a leading global supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components, employs approximately 120,000 people in 35 countries and regions, including Japan. Consolidated global sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011 totaled US$37.7 billion.
