Shinji Shirasaki, Senior Managing Director Member, Board of Directors, DENSO Corporation

Shinji Shirasaki is a member of the Board of Directors and a senior managing director, overseeing the Electronic Systems Business Group and the Corporate ePF Department at DENSO Corporation in Kariya, Aichi, Japan.

Shirasaki began his automotive career at DENSO Corporation (formerly Nippondenso Co. Ltd.) in 1974 after he graduated from Osaka University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Engineering.

Throughout his career, he contributed to the development of new engine management technologies. He has developed ECUs that have cleared various emission regulations in Europe, United States and Japan. Because of his accomplishments DENSO leads the industry in this product field.

In 1997, Shirasaki was named general manager of one of DENSO's Electronic Engineering departments and later promoted to general manager of the entire Electronics Product Division in 2002.

In 2003, Shirasaki was appointed to director of the same division and member of the board.

In June 2004, he was named one of DENSO's managing officers. He was promoted to senior managing director in June 2008.

DENSO, a leading global supplier of advanced automotive technology, systems and components, employs approximately 120,000 people in 34 countries and regions, including Japan. Consolidated global sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010 totaled US$32.0 billion.
